About the role
Oriental Group is seeking a semi-experienced, highly detail-oriented Internal Auditor to oversee internal financial and operational controls across the Group's businesses, including real estate, construction, manufacturing, procurement, stores and other operating units. The primary responsibility of this position will be to identify financial leakage, prevent fraud and irregularities, verify purchases and expenses, and ensure that company funds and materials are being used properly and efficiently. This is a hands-on role requiring the candidate to independently review bills, purchase orders, supplier quotations, inventory records, project expenses and financial transactions.
Responsibilities
- Bill & Payment Verification
- Review supplier bills, purchase bills, expense claims, invoices and payment requests before or after payment.
- Verify that quantities, prices, taxes, discounts and supporting documents are accurate.
- Match Purchase Orders, Goods Received Notes (GRN), invoices and payment records.
- Identify duplicate, inflated, fictitious or unsupported bills.
- Verify that payments are made only against genuine purchases and approved transactions.
- Check whether payments comply with company approval procedures.
- Procurement & Raw Material Price Audit
- Regularly compare prices of raw materials, construction materials, machinery, spare parts and other purchases against previous purchase prices, current market prices, alternative supplier quotations, and approved supplier rates.
- Identify unusual price increases or unexplained price differences.
- Review supplier quotations and procurement processes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Maintain a database of frequently purchased materials and their market/reference prices.
- Flag suspicious supplier relationships, unusual purchasing patterns or potential conflicts of interest.
- Construction Site & Project Audit
- Conduct regular physical visits to Oriental Group's construction sites.
- Verify materials received at site against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Check whether materials are actually being used for the stated project.
- Identify wastage, shortages, unauthorized removal or misuse of materials.
- Compare project budgets against actual expenditure.
- Review contractor bills, subcontractor bills and variation claims.
- Physically verify quantities of major materials such as steel, cement, bricks, tiles, electrical materials, sanitary items and other construction inputs.
