Internal Auditor I

Shift: 9 AM – 5:30 PM, 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week), no weekends, no on-call, flexible start time.

What You Will Do

Provides a critical role to meet the Internal Audit mission: delivering independent assessments of Sharp HealthCare’s internal controls and business processes to customers at all levels—operating units, senior management, and the Board Audit Committee—along with objective, innovative recommendations for continuous improvement. Responsible for planning and executing assigned audits to independently review and appraise organizational activities.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned internal audit projects from planning through reporting.
• Leads efficient process walkthroughs to understand areas under review, documents processes, and evaluates established System standards to assess design and effectiveness of internal controls.
• Develops appropriate and complete audit findings and recommendations; assesses cross-functional impact to identify root cause and adequately support reported conditions and findings.
• Communicates audit status, issues, and risks to Internal Audit leadership and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Communicates audit results to respective parties.
• Develops audit findings and recommendations for auditees and their managers through the audit reporting and feedback process.
• Prepares or revises detailed audit programs for use in audit planning and accomplishment of audit objectives.
• Identifies opportunities for quality improvement in products/services provided to both internal and external customers of the Sharp System.
• Meets time budgets and task due dates; communicates and reports deviations from estimates.
• Communicates work status and future needs to Internal Audit departmental management.
• Keeps current with trends and developments in the profession, industry, and related fields of expertise; participates in professional societies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in healthcare finance or operations, accounting, or auditing at a healthcare provider, public accounting firm, or internal audit department.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of healthcare industry experience, or experience with Epic, Strata, and/or Workday.

Skills

• Knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, COSO internal controls concepts, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), healthcare regulations, healthcare operations, contemporary internal audit practices, accounting, and information systems.
• Communication and relationship skills effective at staff and executive levels of the organization.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $46.11 – $66.65. The stated pay scale reflects the range Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on factors including years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.
