Internal Auditor

About the Role

The California State Lottery is seeking an Internal Auditor to join the Internal Audits Team. This role is responsible for independently planning, conducting, and reporting on the results of complex operational, performance, compliance, information systems, and financial related audits. The auditor acts as the auditor-in-charge and exercises professional judgment and analytical skills throughout each phase of the audit engagement.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, execute, and document complex operational, performance, compliance, information systems, and financial audits
• Act as auditor-in-charge and exercise professional judgment and analytical skills throughout each phase of the audit engagement
• Write clear and well-supported audit reports
• Lead audits and collaborate with assisting auditors
• Prioritize and complete assignments within deadlines

Qualifications

• Current Associate Management Auditor exam eligibility (must have taken the exam or have a current score; click here to gain list eligibility if needed)
• Ability to independently plan, execute, and document complex audits
• Knowledge of internal controls, risk-based auditing, and audit standards
• Ability to lead audits as auditor-in-charge and collaborate with assisting auditors
• Ability to prioritize and complete assignments within deadlines

Desirable Skills

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated internal audit experience

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Full-time (8-hour days) with work hours between 7am – 5pm PST
• Travel may be required for conducting audits, local training, or off-site events
• Headquartered in Sacramento, CA with a hybrid telework schedule; employees must reside in California per Government Code Section 14200
• Employees must be able to report to assigned headquarters office as assigned; travel expense to and from headquarters is the employee's responsibility
