About the role
Civil Engineer Intern – Water Resources at Halff's Orlando, FL office. The intern will assist with drainage and stormwater analysis and design, water resources design, support projects in water resources planning, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and other engineering tasks as needed. Halff is a full‑service infrastructure consulting firm with over 30 offices across several states, committed to smart solutions that improve lives and communities. The Water Resources team has been a core service since 1950, providing integrated solutions through interdisciplinary services, applying GIS‑based technologies (mobile GIS and asset management), and offering formal technical training programs for over 30 years.
Responsibilities
- Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
- Help design drainage and stormwater analysis and design
- Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects
- Perform drafting CAD work
- Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
- Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
- Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
- Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies
Requirements
- Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
- Experience with HEC‑RAS and HEC‑HMS is preferred, however not required
- Great communication skills
- Solid relationship and team building skills

Schedule
Interns are paid hourly and work full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8a‑5p Monday through Friday.
