About the role

Civil Engineer Intern – Water Resources position in Halff's Richardson, TX office. The intern will assist with drainage and stormwater analysis and design, perform water resources design, support projects in water resources planning, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and other engineering tasks as needed. The internship runs from June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027. Interns are paid hourly and work full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Halff does not provide housing for internships.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
• Help design drainage and stormwater analysis and design
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects
• Perform drafting CAD work
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
• Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
• Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

Requirements

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or ABET‑accredited equivalent engineering degree
• Experience with HEC‑RAS and HEC‑HMS is preferred, but not required
• Great communication skills
• Solid relationship and team‑building skills
• Self‑motivated and strong organizational skills

Pay

Interns are paid hourly.

Full‑time schedule: 40 hours per week, typically 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
