About the role
The Intern Trainee will work closely with teams across Burns & McDonnell to gain meaningful experience in a professional work environment. This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure within an employee-owned engineering, procurement, consulting, and construction firm.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tasks such as filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Support field staff with on-site tasks, including equipment setup, data collection, and inspections.
- Help prepare reports or summaries based on field activities.
- Respond to general inquiries and assist with routine questions.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
- Support team members with project-related tasks and research.
- Shadow staff to gain exposure to various roles and responsibilities.
- Aid with event planning, scheduling, and logistics.
- Research solutions to project-related concerns; analyze and recommend potential improvements.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in a high school education program required or High School Diploma/GED required.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
- Actively involved in campus, community, or volunteer activities or organizations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn, with an aptitude for growth and development in the field.
