Intern - Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The student will provide treatment to Veterans, particularly those who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and their families. The student will have training and experience in trauma and Post Traumatic Stress and will develop skills in providing individual, couples, and family therapy, with an emphasis on delivering evidence-based care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides direct services including treatment for Veterans and their families.
- Performs and documents patient’s screenings, psychosocial assessments, and progress and referral information.
- Counsels and coordinates with caregivers, physicians, clinic directors, case managers, and other disciplines to provide the best care to patients as needed.
- Attends weekly clinical, supervision, and administrative meetings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
- Have clinical skills for conducting brief and targeted assessments to provide psychotherapy interventions, health and behavior change, substance use treatment, and triage for appropriate level of care.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Show capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
- Show interest in expanding knowledge and experience in a range of modalities beyond individual adult treatment to include child, couples, and family treatment.
- Show excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Show high organizational, detail-oriented, and reliability.
Qualifications
- Currently a 2nd year student in a Master’s degree program in social work, counseling, or equivalency of behavioral health focused program.
- Experience working with adults, children, couples, and families is preferred.
