Intern - Risk

Hilltop Securities Inc. is seeking a summer intern to join the Quantitative Risk group. This in-person internship runs from May 27, 2027 to July 30, 2027, with opportunities in downtown Dallas at HTS Tower and at various branch locations nationwide.

About the role

This individual will work closely with the Strategic & Risk Management group to gain hands-on experience in the financial services industry, assisting with key initiatives and developing entry-level skills in initiative development and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties, take memos, maintain files, and organize documents
• Assist in preparing information and research materials including Word documents, Excel worksheets, and/or PowerPoint presentations
• Take notes and memos during meetings
• Run general industry-related errands
• Apply critical thinking to solve customer or operational requirements
• Perform tasks and apply knowledge of principles and methods to meet operational requirements
• Learn, interpret, and explain products and/or processes
• Review and analyze data
• Other functions as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Rising Junior or Senior studying Business, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Some experience in financial services preferred, but not required
• Proficiency with computer hardware, operating systems (Windows or Mac), and software/applications (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook, etc.)
• Must have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not

Skills

• Data analysis skills and ability to review and interpret large data sets (preferred)
• Working knowledge of Excel/VBA, SQL, Python, and BI tools such as Tableau (preferred)
