Intern - Quality Control Inspector, CMM Operations - Aerospace

About the role

Interns at Accurus Aerospace Corporation are responsible for creating and maintaining engineering workbooks that depict metallic machined details for customer orders. They assist in creating detailed graphics, technical documentation, and work instructions using engineering design programs and other tools and software. Interns also ensure that the performance and quality of manufactured products comply with established company and regulatory standards, agency guidelines, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain engineering workbooks depicting metallic machined details for customer orders.
• Help create detailed graphics, technical documentation, and work instructions using engineering design programs and other tools and software.
• Ensure performance and quality of manufactured products conform to established company and regulatory standards, agency guidelines, and customer requirements.
• Inspect parts using a variety of precision measurement instruments and/or CMM.
• Communicate verbally and in writing (English) and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Perform other tasks and/or assignments as required.

Requirements

• Uses Engineering design/drafting software to create and edit part drawings, bills of material, and other job-specific technical data.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures; consistently utilizes all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Communicates verbally and in writing (English) and follows verbal and written instructions.
• Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant work experience is not required; however, candidates with familiarity or work/internship experience in a machine shop or other metal manufacturing industry are preferred.
• Experience reading & accurately interpreting shop blueprints, sketches, and other technical information/instructions is required.
• Demonstrated advanced math proficiency is required, as evidenced by acceptable grades in Engineering math coursework.
• Experience using mics, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment is required.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Interns work a minimum of twelve (12) hours per week during standard office hours, typically in regularly scheduled blocks of at least three (3) hours each. During short-term scheduled school holiday and semester breaks, interns may be authorized to work up to forty (40) hours per work week.
