Intern - Project Management Office
As a Project Management Office Intern, you'll collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and healthcare vendors while developing valuable skills in project coordination, data analysis, and process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in healthcare administration, business, technology, or project management to gain real-world experience in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Major/Essential Functions
- Support Project Management Office (PMO) activities by tracking project milestones, action items, risks, issues, and deliverables related to healthcare IT and revenue cycle initiatives.
- Assist with planning, coordination, and documentation of project activities associated with EDI conversion to Waystar and related claims processing workflows.
- Coordinate communications, meetings, and follow-up activities among internal stakeholders, business teams, information technology resources, and external vendors, including Optum.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and maintain project documentation, operational data, status reports, testing results, and other project artifacts to support project decision-making and implementation efforts.
- Develop knowledge of healthcare operations, revenue cycle processes, project management methodologies, and healthcare technology systems while contributing to assigned project tasks and departmental objectives.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Student in Texas Tech University System in good standing, pursuing related degree(s).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in healthcare operations, healthcare technology, revenue cycle management, claims processing, or project management.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
