Intern - Park Management (Summer)

About the role

The Park Manager Intern will work with the district supervisor and park manager, volunteers, and other seasonal staff to learn all aspects of the operations and maintenance of Lake Cochrane Recreation Area.

Responsibilities

• Public relations and park rule enforcement
• Permits sales and auditing
• Fee collection
• Data collection for end‑of‑month reports
• Maintenance and operation of mowers
• Operation of hand and power tools
• Assisting with special event planning and programming
• Assisting the Naturalist with programming
• Facility and grounds maintenance projects
• Maintenance of equipment
• Facility sanitation
• Administrative duties

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part‑time or full‑time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
• Preference may be given to applicants with junior/senior standing, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions

Pay

Minimum salary: $20.53 hourly
