Based in Southern California, The Marvin Group comprises Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS), and Marvin Land Systems (MLS), focusing on alternate mission equipment, armament test equipment, and power/thermal management systems respectively. About the role

This internship offers participants the opportunity to join the mechanical, manufacturing, and tooling engineering department, working alongside mentors to contribute to innovation at Marvin Engineering. The program aims to provide foundational tools for career success and potentially transition into a full-time role. Interns will gain exposure to the engineering design cycle, from concept development to integration, manufacturing, and testing, working on products such as Rail Launchers, Bomb Racks, and Ground Vehicles. The role involves interfacing with multiple functional groups, including production, planning, engineering, quality, and logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Training and application of MEC tools including CATIA V5, SolidWorks, and PDM
  • Design and documentation support using engineering tools, Adobe, and MS Office suite
  • Engineering Change Request, Engineering Change Notice/Order, and Drawing Release
  • Collaboration with coworkers and diverse teams
  • Training on MEC processes and procedures

Requirements

  • Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Postgraduate by the start of summer in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Understanding of manufacturing or mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, materials, and analysis
  • Proficiency in CAD (Computer Aided Design) modeling, drafting, and release
  • Demonstrated mechanical design, drafting, and modeling techniques
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project)

Skills

  • Experience as a team player to build consensus and effective relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage change, identify issues, and develop solutions with stakeholders
  • Leadership skills to inspire confidence and complete challenging systems-related tasks
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, including documentation, machining, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment, and assembly
  • Model-Based Engineering experience and 2D drawing using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5, SolidWorks)
  • Knowledge of metal galvanic compatibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3.5 or above cumulative GPA
  • Prior engineering project or internship experience
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and SmarTeam PDM
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or other presentation tools
  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams with diverse colleagues
  • Basic knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) using ASME Y14.5-LATEST standard

Pay

Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $20.00 to $25.00 Hourly
