Intern - Masters of Social Work (Fall)
About the role
This internship position at the South Dakota Human Services Center (HSC) is designed to provide students studying to receive a masters in social work an opportunity to work in a delivery system that provides services for adolescents and adults with a severe mental illness or serious emotional disturbance diagnosis. It is further designed to provide a structured opportunity to participate and work with individual, group and family counseling.
Responsibilities
- Work under supervision of licensed clinical social workers and other professionals.
- Assist in providing individual, group and family counseling services.
- Participate in case management activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans.
- Collaborate with other service providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in an upcoming semester or immediately preceding semester.
- Student in a graduate program in social work or a related field at a college or university.
- At least two semesters completed in the graduate program.
Qualifications
- Student in a graduate program in social work or a related field at a college or university.
- Standing of junior/senior preferred.
- South Dakota resident preferred.
- Student of South Dakota institutions preferred.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment options.

Pay
$25.47 hourly
