Intern - Lodge Golf Shop (Seasonal)

Tasks/Responsibilities

• Graciously welcome guests and members as they arrive
• Provide a warm and hospitable club environment to guests and members
• Ensure club privacy by checking Sea Island cards to verify date, membership category and identification
• Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
• Directs and manages all telephone calls
• Work closely with Head Golf Professional
• Remain informed of current trends and inventory status
• Maintain the availability of merchandise in a clean and orderly fashion
• Aid with merchandising and display arrangements
• Aid with quarterly inventory procedures
• Aid guests with merchandise sales, up-selling where possible
• Record and bill orders accurately into the register system (Micros) and process payments using guest/member cards
• Assist with scheduling tee times and answers questions regarding the use of golf facilities
• Aid with the organization of group golf
• Assist the Head Professional with guest accommodations
• Assist with the Head Professional's tournament operation needs
• Handle ordering for specific high turnover items
• Complete a Guest Problem Resolution (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
• Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
• Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
• Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership

Physical Requirements

• Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, hold, bend, push, pull, and walk for prolonged periods
• Hearing and vision ability (close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus)
• Must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
• Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 50 lbs intermittently throughout a shift
• Read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
• May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
• Maintain compliance with Sea Island’s Resort Professional Image Policy
