Intern – Land Use and Mobility Options
About the role
The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The Transportation Department seeks an Intern to support activities in the Land Use and Mobility Options program area.
Responsibilities
- Working with supervisor to compile and summarize project information for planning studies
- Aiding in the collection, processing, and analysis of land-use, transportation, and demographic data
- Entering data and maintaining spreadsheets, files, and other information systems
- Working with supervisor to create and edit maps, and process spatial and tabular data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS/ESRI ArcGIS Pro)
- Drafting and preparing reports, presentations, checklists, documents, public outreach content, and education materials for supervisor review
- Working with supervisor to perform quality control on completed work
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Basic knowledge of GIS principles and the ESRI ArcGIS Pro platform
- Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Good analytical skills, with ability to identify data discrepancies
Qualifications
- Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
- No work experience required
- At least one year of school-related experience

$17.10 per hour

Schedule
Up to 30 hours per week while attending school
