Intern Finance - Financial Planning & Analysis

NiSource is seeking a Summer Finance – Financial Planning & Analysis Intern for a 12‑week program beginning in May 2027. Interns will work in Columbus, OH (within 50 miles of the location) and will gain hands‑on experience in finance functions while building professional relationships, participating in development exercises, and engaging in team‑building activities.

Essential Functions

• Build long‑range financial plans.
• Perform budget‑to‑actual analysis.
• Prepare operating expense forecasts.
• Develop variance analyses.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management reports.
• Collaborate with managers and team members on important projects.
• Participate in professional development and team‑building activities.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business discipline.
• Completion of intermediate‑level coursework.
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical ability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Demands

As a public utility, NiSource provides essential services 24/7. Employees may be required to support emergency response efforts, which could include working outside normal hours or assisting with tasks beyond typical responsibilities.

Pay

Salary range: $17.40 – $29.30 per hour, based on skills, knowledge, experience, and internal pay equity.
