Intern - Engineering Civil/Site

About the role

We are currently seeking an Intern – Engineering Civil/Site to join our New Albany, IN office. This role is ideal for a motivated student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering who is eager to gain hands-on experience in site development and land engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with the preparation of site development plans, exhibits, and construction documents.
• Support project teams with engineering calculations, quantity estimates, and technical analyses.
• Aid in the design of grading, drainage, utility, stormwater, and erosion control systems.
• Conduct research and gather project data to support engineering studies and reports.
• Utilize engineering software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office applications.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineers, planners, surveyors, and other technical professionals.
• Affirm plans, specifications, and permitting requirements.
• Participate in field visits and construction observations as needed.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• Rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student with an interest in Civil/Site engineering and land development.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and site development concepts.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other engineering design software is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel occasionally to project sites, if needed.

Skills

• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other engineering design software.
• Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
