About the role

Generac is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to help develop next-generation residential energy products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of disciplines, including analog, digital, test setup design, product firmware, power electronics, high-voltage battery systems, and battery management systems. This is a 1st shift, on-site position located in Billerica, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute large-scale long-term test setups and procedures for electrical systems, focusing on power conversion, high voltage, inverters, PV Optimizers, electronics, and IoT devices.
  • Perform functional and performance testing of electrical components, subsystems, and complete systems.
  • Help to improve test setup design processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Actively enrolled in a 4-year electrical engineering program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of basic electrical concepts
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics
  • Background in working with programming languages that communicate with electronic hardware
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proven technical experience through academic or passion projects
  • Engaged, proactive, and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of AC and DC power

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include typical frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
