About the Role

KPMG’s Economic and Valuation Services practice is seeking an Intern to join our diverse team. As a member of this team, you will assist with valuation analysis of real property, collaborate on client deliverables, and gain exposure to a wide range of real estate asset classes. You’ll work in a collaborative, team-driven culture with opportunities for professional and personal growth through formal training, mentoring, and multifaceted engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the valuation analysis of real property, including report preparation, proposal development, and executive presentations for financial reporting, tax, mark-to-market, or business planning purposes.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on client deliverables, gaining exposure to various real estate asset classes.
  • Perform market research and property inspections, domestically and abroad, to support the valuation process.
  • Read, abstract, and analyze leases related to commercial real estate transactions.
  • Assist KPMG audit teams in a review capacity as real estate specialists, evaluating third-party or internally developed valuations.
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Real Estate, Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or an equivalent program.
  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or meeting CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in real estate markets and property valuation; basic understanding of real estate finance concepts and ARGUS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel-based modeling, including basic formulas, look-up functions, and cash flow modeling; proficiency with shortcuts, VBA, and data visualization is a plus.
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills. Ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and emerging tools.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; feedback-oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to work locations using personal transportation or public transit.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
