Internship Overview

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

  • Internship Duration: 9/8/26-12/11/26

  • Location: Hybrid role. Intern must be located in Dayton, OH, or the immediate surrounding area. Office is in Kettering, OH.

  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

  • Internship Outcomes: Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to gain important and practical job skills, explore a career-path with a reputable voluntary health/service organization, and enrich their academic and professional resumes while making a difference in the lives of others.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Dayton market.

  • Working with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support fundraising campaigns, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, Heart Ball.

  • Executing external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and third-party vendors.

  • Using event support systems such as Luminate and Tableau to help manage data entry and run reports.

  • Developing and updating marketing materials for campaigns including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.

  • Affixing volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).

  • Conducting prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.

  • Supporting Hands-Only CPR demonstrations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, non-profit management, public relations, or a related field are preferred.

  • Must be comfortable with vendor outreach (phone calls & emails to vendors & donors).

  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.

  • Experience with event planning.

  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.

  • Proficient in multiple social media platforms preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.

  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Canva.

  • Experience in Salesforce is a plus.

Minimum Availability

  • 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm
