Environmental interns/co‑ops help maintain high standards for protecting people, the environment, and the communities where MPC operates, supporting business areas such as Refining, Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics, and Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and/or develop company environmental policies and guidelines; create methods and procedures to ensure conformance.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures, including budget inputs, and monitor compliance with policies.
- Design and/or review engineering designs and cost estimates for environmental equipment/systems; determine specifications and recommend equipment as needed.
- Identify and investigate current and developing environmental problems, determine causes, initiate preventive steps, and communicate recommendations to senior management.
- Stay current on environmental legislation, regulatory actions, and international standards; assist with legislative and regulatory impact assessments, submit required reports, and obtain permits.
- Develop environmental information, manuals, training material, and programs; inform employees of policies and procedures and conduct training sessions.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s program for the duration of the internship.
- Strong academic performance.
- Available to work on‑site 40 hours per week.
- Ability to safely ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs or ladders and lift or carry items up to 50 lb.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for work‑related travel.
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred.
Pay
Hourly rate ranges from $24.09 to $43.23.
