Intern - Child Protection Services (Fall)
Responsibilities
Receive reports from the community regarding allegations of child maltreatment.
Assess families regarding allegations of child maltreatment.
Intervene with families to address changes needed to ensure child safety in their homes.
Carefully coordinate and facilitate family team meetings.
Recruit and support foster and relative homes caring for maltreated children.
Match resource families for children unable to return to their birth families.
Requirements
Coursework preferred in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, or a related field of study.
The applicant must be willing to work as part of a team.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong communication skills are required.
Willingness to travel throughout the state with Division staff is necessary.
Qualifications
- Enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application.
- Should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program by the start of the internship.
- All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
Pay
$20.53 hourly
Schedule
Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., but additional hours may be necessary.
