Position Summary
The Summer Youth Gun Violence Prevention Initiative seeks to reduce gun violence in New York City by engaging young people aged 14–24 in meaningful summer programming. This initiative aims to incentivize youth who are at high risk of being affected by gun violence to participate in positive, community-based activities between July 6 and August 21, 2026. Programs may include youth-led community projects, job readiness internships, and creative self-expression through art, technology, or other platforms. Activities focus on leadership development, placemaking, and public showcases.
Responsibilities
- Support organizing and promoting summer programming initiatives
- Assist in facilitating youth-led community projects and workshops
- Participate in job readiness internships
- Engage in creative self-expression activities such as art and technology
- Contribute to leadership development and placemaking activities
- Prepare for and present at a public showcase in September 2026
Qualifications
- Interest in community-based initiatives and youth engagement
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with project management or event planning is a plus
