Police Intern
About the role
Positions in this class participate in an internship program which offers practical work experience and training in various work assignments relative to the intern's field of study or career interest. This position performs a variety of duties, including research on any projects as may be assigned by the sponsoring department, may attend business meetings to which the incumbent is invited, and, as applicable, will "shadow" staff in order to experience real-time, real-life government work.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Physical Condition: Must be able to meet the health and physical condition standards of the position.
- Distance Vision: 20/20 binocular vision, with or without correction.
- Vision Correction: Soft contact lens wearers must have 20/200 or better binocular vision before correction, corrected to 20/20. Wearers must have 20/40 or better binocular vision before correction, corrected to 20/20.
- Licenses: Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Hawaii (equivalent to Hawaii Type 3).

This recruitment is being administered on an open-competitive basis to establish an eligible list which shall be effective for not more than one year unless extended by the Director of Personnel Services.

Pre-Employment/Post-Offer Drug Screening Test
All applicants, who will enter a safety sensitive position or certain designated categories that the Personnel Services Director has established or who are required by law to be drug tested must pass a pre-employment/post-offer drug screening test as a condition of employment. There is no retesting or re-evaluation process. Cost for the drug screening test shall be borne by the County of Maui.
