About the role

Aperture LLC is currently interviewing for a Forensic Biomechanical Intern for our Davis, Irvine, San Diego, and Long Beach, California locations as well as our Las Vegas, Nevada location.

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong interest in Biomechanics, accident reconstruction and failure analysis. Candidates should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative consulting environment, which requires a high degree of self-motivation, professionalism, organization, responsiveness, and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze injury-producing incidents and other events to evaluate and determine mechanisms of injury and liability for purposes of resolving claims and legal disputes for our clients.
• Work both alone and as part of a team, along with a variety of engineering disciplines, to determine the root cause of a variety of incidents.
• Conduct field investigations.
• Execute triangulation, coordinate, and total station field measuring in locating evidence and documenting scenes.
• Inspect sites, vehicles, and other evidence for forensic investigation.
• Perform biomechanical analysis as it relates to injury correlations and causation.
• Report and collect evidence; including but not limited to forensic photos, videos.
• Apply engineering principles per industry standards to investigation analysis.
• Utilize appropriate calculations, applications, and figures to ensure the proper procedures are applied.
• Produce written technical reports detailing and defending observations and conclusions.
• Provide expert-level consultation to our clients to assist in answering technical questions.
• Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the engineer’s practice area(s) through attending continuing education courses and workshops, attending industry/practice-related seminars, reviewing relevant scientific and professional publications, and participating in professional organizations and societies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomechanics or Biomedical Engineering; or working towards your Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong organizational skills and attitude to deliver results.
• Mathematically and technologically inclined with the ability to adapt to new environments or scenarios quickly.
• Ability to work remotely or while traveling to different job sites.

Physical Requirements

• Climb ladders, walk on roofs, enter and work in confined spaces.
• Work outdoors in hot or cold weather.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Use necessary safety equipment.
• Perform duties that may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, or squatting for prolonged periods of time.
• Employee may be required to travel for business purposes.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $20 - $25
