About the Role

As a Part-Time Athletics Intern, you will play a vital role in providing hands-on, in-person support for equipment inventory and ensuring the smooth execution of Success Academy's athletics games, events, and competitions. This internship is a great opportunity for those interested in sports management, athletics administration, event planning, and/or operations. You will work closely with our athletics team to ensure smooth execution, gain valuable skills in sports event operations, and contribute to a mission-driven organization that impacts thousands of students across NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Equipment & Inventory – Assist in tracking, organizing, maintaining, and distributing athletic equipment and gear across facilities to ensure teams are fully prepared for games and practices.
  • Support Event Logistics & On-Site Operations – Provide in-person operational support for Success Academy athletics games and events, including setup, breakdown, scorekeeping, team check-ins, and venue coordination.
  • Coordinate Game-Day Execution – Assist coaches, referees, and event staff on-site to ensure game schedules run on time and troubleshoot on-the-ground operational needs during events.
  • Maintain Safety & Facility Standards – Support event directors in ensuring game environments, fields, and gyms meet safety standards and provide a positive experience for student-athletes and families.

Qualifications

  • Interest or background in athletics management, sports administration, or event operations.
  • Experience organizing equipment, managing inventory, or assisting with athletic events/competitions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards in execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to lift and move sports equipment as needed for game setup and inventory management.
  • Has a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and receptivity to feedback.
  • Passion for learning and an interest in K-12 education, youth sports, and education reform.

Pay

$22/hour.

Schedule

The role requires flexible availability to provide in-person support during athletics games and events, which will include afternoon, evening, and weekend hours based on the sports season schedule.
