Intern Asset Management

About the role

NiSource is seeking a Summer Asset Management Intern for a 12‑week program beginning May 2027. The intern will join the renewable generation team, assist with projects to meet utility facility needs, and may evaluate and provide project‑management support for electric generation facilities. The role is based in Merrillville, IN or Wheatfield, IN, and candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location. Interns will gain a broad overview of NiSource’s operations, build professional relationships, participate in professional development and team‑building activities, and learn about current events in the utilities industry.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data and review records
• Read and interpret legal agreements
• Create work orders and/or purchase requisitions
• Perform field measurements
• Assist renewable generation staff on projects to meet utility facility needs
• Evaluate and provide project‑management support for electric generation facilities of varying complexity
• Demonstrate safety consciousness and follow safety requirements

Requirements

• Current student in an accredited four‑year Engineering, Business, or Operations program (ABET‑accredited preferred)
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate study
• Ability to work 40 hours per week
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong skills with Microsoft 365 preferred
• Proven communication skills (verbal and written)
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Safety consciousness required
