About the role
Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) is a rare and special place where outstanding company culture is intentional. Clients and associates are treated the same, as equals. Founded in 1993, MHC serves individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, expanding its services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee. The sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing clinical mental health services to clients of all ages.
- Apply knowledge learned in school to develop clinical skills using evidence-based practice.
- Perform direct patient care including diagnosing psychiatric illness and recommending psychotropic medication when appropriate and in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Provide general counseling, guidance, and health instruction to clients and family members.
- Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner that is consistent with agency standards.
- Play a role in the client’s treatment team with other departments throughout the agency.
- Participate in additional learning and training opportunities.
Requirements
- PMHNP interns must be master’s level students in an accredited advanced practice nursing program.
- This internship requires a minimum of one semester and a maximum of three semester commitment.
