Intermittent Interpreter - Russian
About the role
Intermittent Interpreters provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services during court proceedings as parties and witnesses testify, or when attorneys present oral arguments and motions. They may also assist court staff with interpreting in a customer service setting and provide sight translations as needed. They work in courtroom or office settings and have significant contact with judges, court staff, attorneys, and the public.
Responsibilities

Requirements
Possess a valid and current certification as a “Certified Court Interpreter” in Russian, issued by the Judicial Council of California.
Skills
- Ability to accurately provide simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services in Russian.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with court staff and law enforcement personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Maintain a neutral, non‑bias position when providing interpreting services.
Benefits
Eligible for Social Security and Workers' Compensation coverage.
Pay
Paid $47.20 per hour, with a four‑hour minimum guarantee of paid time (provided the interpreter agrees to be available for assignment by the court for the full half‑day session); additional hours worked beyond the four‑hour guarantee are paid hourly.
