About the role

Join the Publix Technology Asset Protection & Vendor Portal team, responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining robust, high-quality solutions to support the Vendor Portal and Asset Protection business areas. The team manages and enhances systems that impact both external partners and internal associates, ensuring smooth business processes and compliance with regulatory standards.

As an Intermediate Software Engineer, you will provide application development solving complex business challenges and comprehensive support for a wide range of systems under the Vendor Portal and Asset Protection area. This is a hybrid role based in Lakeland, FL, offering the flexibility to work remotely and onsite for collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Write or modify complex programs from technical designs, program specifications, and/or product backlog items under less specific guidance.
  • Lead and coordinate technical design for complex technical solutions under less specific guidance.
  • Continuously improve vendor portal systems to enhance supplier experience and streamline purchasing processes.
  • Define technical scope, estimates, and risks for the business systems analyst, product owner, and/or portfolio manager for development activities.
  • Perform industry research and make recommendations regarding technical enhancements, new features, technology, and infrastructure to continuously improve technical solutions.
  • Provide excellent customer service to suppliers and internal users by responding to queries and resolving issues.
  • Provide production support following a rotating on-call schedule (approximately every 4-5 weeks) and when needed.
  • Monitor system health, triage issues, and troubleshoot application software processes, escalating to other engineering teams as needed.
  • Work with Azure DevOps pipelines and code repositories to deploy new versions of the Vendor Portal and Asset Protection systems.
  • Execute maintenance tasks on applications and batch jobs running on Publix Private Cloud (PPC) or on-prem servers, including running on-demand data loads.
  • Develop automation solutions, such as scripts, pipelines, and batch jobs, to reduce manual or repeatable tasks.
  • Provide KPIs, metrics, status, and reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Work with minimal supervision within a large, fast-paced corporate environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related analytical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with full-stack development using Angular, C#, and databases like SQL Server.
  • 2+ years of experience with Databricks to clean, transform, and move raw data from multiple sources into organized models.
  • Strong experience developing and testing APIs using Swagger, client tools like Bruno/Postman, and web-based front ends.
  • Experience with the Azure cloud platform, including Azure/MS SQL Databases, Application Services, Storage Accounts, and Key Vaults.
  • Experience troubleshooting application issues using Developer tools, Azure Application Insights, Log Analytics, Dynatrace, and/or Splunk.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, deployment pipelines, code repositories, and branching.
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and distributed application systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure networking, such as Virtual Networks, Subnets, Azure Firewall, Front Door, Traffic Manager, Application Gateway, and Azure API Management Services.
  • Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, and microservices.
  • Experience with advanced technology concepts related to security, scalability, availability, and performance.
