Intermediate Project Engineer

About the Role

The Carrier and Fleet Programs Unit is seeking a Project Engineer to ensure the needs of major Fleet Power Plant programs are planned, budgeted, and executed effectively. The successful candidate will coordinate and support these programs by collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including the power plant technical community, Financial Services, NNL Procurement Department, Naval Reactors, and shipyards. A strong understanding of Fleet Power Plant engineering work and its integration with program/project funding is essential. Knowledge of Government contracting, funding guidelines, cost estimating, and their impact on key power plant platforms is frequently required.

Responsibilities

• Support cost estimate and special schedule development for major Naval projects
• Provide programmatic oversight of work performed at the shipyard
• Manage budget and portfolio databases of shipyard work
• Support multi-organizational assessments of major project work

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science, or construction field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science, or construction field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

• Experience analyzing large datasets in Excel
• Experience with oversight of shipyard work
• Experience with power plant engineering work
• Experience with project management of moderately sized engineering efforts
• Experience with planning estimates and NNL financial processes

Pay

Pay Range: $70,900.00 - $108,500.00 annually. Salary is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
