About the Role

Intermediate Architect (Sustainability) position based in Philadelphia, PA, with the option to telecommute up to one day per week. This role involves coordinating sustainability goals and creating project designs and plans for all phases of complex major projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Coordinate building design consultants while monitoring drawings.
  • Develop and represent the lead technical viewpoint on projects.
  • Coordinate with Project Leadership on technical solutions and product strategies.
  • Manage projects and lead the team in developing aesthetic design and preparation of architectural design, including drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with or serve as Project Architect for design and detailing of projects.
  • Develop working processes with the team to ensure the design intent of the project is maintained throughout its duration.
  • Coordinate work of design consultants and serve as liaison with Project Managers, other Architects, and consultants.
  • Meet with clients and conduct design presentations.
  • Coordinate with relevant regulatory/governmental authorities to achieve entitlement approvals for zoning and building.
  • Coordinate all trades and agencies related to building design during construction.
  • Coordinate sustainability goals using effective organization and communication skills.
  • Lead on BIM 360 to support firmwide initiatives and manage complex multi-discipline design projects, including initial setup, drawing, and modeling.
  • Support construction administration and develop construction documents.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Limited domestic travel (2 days/month) to client sites.

Requirements

Must have one of the following:

  • Master of Architecture with 4 years of relevant architectural design experience, or
  • Bachelor of Architecture with 6 years of relevant architectural design experience.

Skills

  • 4 years of experience in sustainable design.
  • 2 years of experience in design and documentation of mixed-use Multifamily projects.
  • Experience in construction administration project phase, including submittal review, RFI investigation and response, and site observation.
  • Knowledge of building and practice area codes (including IBC, NFPA 101, ANSI, ADA, FHA, and BOMA guidelines).
  • 1 year of experience coordinating with relevant regulatory/governmental authorities to achieve entitlement approvals related to zoning and building.
  • Experience with energy modeling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Cove Tool, MS Office Suite, Newforma Project Center, SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, InDesign, Illustrator, and Bluebeam.
