Responsibilities
Leadership
- Define and execute the strategic vision, growth plan, and market positioning for the Corporate Interiors practice in Florida.
- Serve as the public face of the interiors practice in Miami and across the state—building brand awareness and market credibility.
- Cultivate a high-performance, values-driven studio culture grounded in mentorship, accountability, and design excellence.
- Lead by example in fostering sustainability, innovation, and client-focused design solutions.
- May serve as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge on select key projects.
- Assists Interior Design Director and Marketing Principal in the organization, budget and delivery of design competitions.
Business Development
- Play a lead role in originating, pursuing, and securing new corporate interiors work.
- Identify emerging opportunities and proactively build relationships with corporate clients, developers, brokers, consultants, and contractors.
- Partner with marketing and leadership teams on strategic pursuits, design competitions, and go-to-market initiatives.
- Contribute to and help execute the annual business plan for the interiors practice.
- Aid in developing fee proposals, pursuit strategies, and client presentations.
- Maintain active involvement in professional associations and industry organizations relevant to the Florida and corporate interiors markets.
Staff Development
- Prepares and delivers design staff evaluations; responsible for performance development, compensation decision-making and allocation processes of department.
- Encourages staff exploration and innovation to achieve project design excellence and continual improvement.
- Conducts employee performance evaluations.
- Leads office design reviews and critiques.
- Develops continuing education opportunities for the design staff (e.g. site visits; lectures; road trips) to expose design staff to influences which will stimulate their design thinking.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture or equivalent in education or experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive interior architectural experience; 20+ years preferred, particularly within Florida.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, clients, and complex projects through post-occupancy.
- Must be professional Interior Designer and have passed the NCIDQ exam or be a registered Architect with current license required.
- If registered Architect, NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED credential required after 12 months of employment.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of interior design, workplace trends, construction methodology, materials, and building systems.
- Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems.
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
- Ability to manage multiple projects of a complex scope.
- Possess strong hand and advanced CAD drafting skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
- Proficiency in Deltek Vision preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit is preferred.
- Proficiency in NewForma is preferred.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in team environment and ability to supervise others.
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
