About the role
As an Interior Technician, you will work on some of the most sophisticated private aircraft in the world. Duties include removal and installation of carpeting, insulation, soundproofing, and fabric accessories; parts replacement/repair; basic electrical system installation; modifications; refurbishments; and general mechanical applications on aircraft interiors. Job duties vary by type and scope as designated by the Interior Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft interiors and related systems.
- Perform minor modifications with minimal direction.
- Complete daily turnover sheets, work order processes, and weight and balance data.
- Maintain and repair shop facility, equipment, and tooling.
- Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
- Maintain cleanliness of shop and surroundings.
- Work independently when required.
- Communicate effectively (speak, write, read) in English.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not required).
- Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
- Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments.
- Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a scheduled shift.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
- Assist in major modification work as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Repetitive physical motion with arms and hands, including grasping, feeling, and finger dexterity.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas.
Mental Requirements
- Understand and implement regulations and guidelines, including OSHA and Hazmat.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
- Plan and organize procedures and operations.
- Read various reports and blueprints.
Supervision
- Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader and Interior Management.
- May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.
- Work with minimal supervision when required.
Working Conditions
- Majority of work performed in a hangar or shop environment.
- Occasional work outside on the ramp.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
- Personal hand tools (supplied by the mechanic).
- Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, and power drills.
- Sheet metal cutters, glue guns, and metal benders.
- Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
- Spray booth and all related equipment.
