Interior Designer
About the role
Gensler Columbus is seeking a talented professional to join our team as an Interior Designer. This role involves tackling complex design challenges, collaborating with integrated project teams, and developing innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on interior and architectural projects, including programming client needs, concept design, schematic design, design development, and documentation.
- Manage budget/schedule adherence.
- Participate in project visioning with the team to create a compelling design narrative that reflects the project story and brand.
- Create and develop materiality and design strategy with the team to support experiential design and brand story.
- Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
- Select FF&E.
- Participate in and support project team coordination for the finished plans, FF&E specifications, and material selections required for construction.
- Utilize technical knowledge and delivery experience for effective documentation and detailing.
- Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
- Support managing client expectations and coordinating team and consultant communications.
- Support office leadership in business development activities and be present in the market.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of related professional experience as an interior designer.
- Experience across multiple practices is a plus: workplace, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and residential.
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhinoceros, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office required.
- Strong conceptual planner.
- Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E + specifications, color, and materials.
- Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
- A strong sense of design vision with the ability to craft and communicate compelling narratives through design and storytelling.
- The ability to simultaneously work on a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development.
- A self-motivated individual with strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
- NCIDQ required.
