Job Expectations/Responsibilities
- Generate architectural concepts for interior projects, including materials, furniture and equipment planning, special design concepts and requirements, floor plan analysis, condition of building site, personal property, integrated structural components, and mechanical and electrical and visual design concepts.
- Assist senior designers with interior design concepts, spatial layouts, and color/material palettes for residential projects.
- Prepare preliminary space plans, furniture layouts, and finish concepts under supervision.
- Aid in the creation of client presentation materials, mood boards, and sample packages.
- Research California appropriate finishes, furnishings, lighting, fixtures, and appliances consistent with project scope and budget.
- Support the preparation of interior drawings, schedules, and specifications.
- Support the preparation of furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E) schedules.
- Assist with documentation related to residential permitting and consultant coordination.
- Maintain organized physical and digital project files, including samples and vendor information.
- Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and showrooms to request pricing, samples, and lead times.
- Aid in order tracking, submittals, and installation coordination.
- Participate in internal design meetings and selected client meetings as directed.
- Assist with site visits, installations, and punch list activities when required.
- Learn firm standards, drawing conventions, and residential workflows.
- Develop familiarity with California residential requirements, including California Building Code (CBC) and applicable residential standards, Title 24 and CALGreen considerations as they relate to interior finishes and fixtures, basic accessibility concepts and applicable ADA standards where required.
- Stay current with residential design trends, sustainability considerations, and product innovations.
- Possess problem-solving skills and demonstrate the ability to analyze data, identify solutions, and make recommendations for project decisions.
- Communicate effectively both verbally, in writing, and through drawings. Use applicable software to develop designs, prepare presentations and reports, and communicate to team.
- Attend select project meetings, prepare meeting notes, and take actions on next steps.
- Attend meetings with senior staff and may present specific design solutions directly to the client.
- Perform qa/qc for work produced.
- Organize data and files, transmit files through designated means.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (required)
- 3+ years of post-graduate project experience (required)
- Minimum 3 years Revit project experience (required)
- Knowledge of interior design and the basics of architectural drawing set production and 3D coordination
- Portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor
- Ability to be organized, structured, and detail-oriented. Attentive to detail and schedule, and self-motivated
- Advanced level Revit modeling skills including wall types, furniture, lighting, symbols, tags, etc.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCad
