Position Summary

The Interior Design Program invites part-time faculty candidates for Interior Design Lecturer within the School of Media & Design. Position will teach undergraduate courses in Interior Design, to include, studio and seminar courses, ensuring implementation of CIDA standards in all courses taught. Integration of a variety of digital media into Design Studios is expected. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of part-time faculty members at the University include teaching and professional activities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Ability to deliver instruction both in-person and online, as needed. Ability to effectively learn, use, and incorporate industry-relevant technology into teaching, but not limited to, AR/VR, 3D Printing, and AI applications. Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening course sections as needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills. Computer-based skills (i.e. software, including design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Revit & SketchUp), analytical skills, and report writing skills. Commitment to implementation of CIDA standards in all courses within scope of responsibility. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a closely related field, as required for lecture-based courses. Master’s Degree in Interior Design or a closely related field, as required for studio-based courses.

  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the field of interior design.

  • Preferred Qualifications: Terminal Degree (Ph.D., MFA, or MID) in Interior Design or a closely-related field. NCIDQ Certificate Holder. Registered Interior Designer. WELL AP or LEED Green Associate. Two (2) years of teaching experience in higher education. Active member of IDEC, ASID, IIDA, AIA or NKBA.

  • Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations: NCIDQ Certificate Holder, as required to teach studio-based classes.
