An Interim Team Leader assumes the responsibilities of a Team Leader on a temporary basis, assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with operational, sales, and merchandising objectives while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. This role promotes a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, and trains Team Members on policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
  • Perform Opening/Closing procedures and transport deposits to the bank.
  • Assess store conditions, assign duties, and organize workflow using the daily planner.
  • Conduct merchandise recovery and participate in the freight process.
  • Perform regular and promotional price change activities.
  • Resolve customer complaints/issues to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
  • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls.
  • Communicate job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals to Team Members.
  • Operate cash registers, supervise cash handling, and assist Team Members with policy applications.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of birds, sanitize poultry holding tanks, and care for birds as required.
  • Operate forklifts and balers, and complete associated documentation.
  • Obtain licenses or certifications as needed by the business.
  • Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet, Uncover needs, Recommend solutions, Ask to add value, and Appreciate the customer.
  • Maintain regular attendance, work scheduled shifts (including varied hours, nights, weekends, and overtime), and uphold policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Retail experience and/or knowledge in farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
  • Basic computer skills and strong interpersonal skills to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to perform Team Member responsibilities and execute duties accurately, efficiently, and safely without advance notice.

Working Conditions

  • Generally works inside with moderate noise; shifts vary (minimum 4 hours, may exceed 10 hours).
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt) with adequate lighting and temperature.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Promote and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to safely access all store areas, including the selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Ability to operate store equipment (e.g., dolly, hand truck, MHE, battery changer, computer, cash register).
  • Constant operation of store equipment such as computers and cash registers.
  • Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
  • Ability to complete training and certification to dispense propane (does not apply if under 18).
  • Non-sedentary role requiring physical and mental stamina to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
  • Ability to travel as required for district needs and drive or operate a vehicle for business purposes.
