Interim Registered Dietician

About the Role

Interim position to cover for 2-5 months.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall nutritional care of patients.
• Plan, assess, implement, and evaluate nutritional care plans for patients.
• Document nutrition care plans in the patient medical record according to SNF policies and procedures.
• Assist in menu modifications and other nutrition-related functions.
• Interview patients and/or families for nutritional history and obtain patient food preferences.
• Assess patients and document findings in medical records.
• Recommend nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
• Recommend therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians.
• Ensure accuracy of diet orders by checking against physician’s orders.
• Calculate nutrient content of tube feeding, TPN/PPN, and dietary intakes (calorie counts) as ordered by physicians.
• Provide nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families, including written materials as needed.
• Participate in Project Improvement projects; assist in data collection and reporting results.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment that may interfere with safe and smooth operations.
• Oversee food service workers in proper food handling and portion control.
• Assist the manager with changes to patient menus, including patient food preferences, development of standardized recipes, and proper food handling.
• Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition, or Dietetics, required.
• Registered Dietitian, required.
• Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, preferred.
