About the role

An Interim L&D Director (Antenatal) is needed to provide operational and clinical leadership for a high-acuity inpatient antenatal and labor and delivery service while ensuring exceptional patient care and departmental performance. Reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing, this leader will oversee a comprehensive inpatient obstetric service.

Key responsibilities include ensuring appropriate staffing and retention, maintaining compliance with labor agreements, leading the department through high-volume operations, supporting newly hired staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing direct clinical support as needed during labor work stoppages, including serving as the Charge Nurse when necessary.

The ideal candidate will be a strong operational and strategic leader with experience leading complex inpatient clinical services. This individual will demonstrate the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, develop and mentor staff, foster collaboration, and successfully navigate organizational change. Must be highly organized, patient-focused, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills will be critical.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• BSN required
• DNP, PhD, or MSN in a healthcare-related field required
• Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Specialty certification required or must be obtained within two years
• Minimum of three years of leadership experience in Women's Health required
• Three years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred
• Labor relations experience preferred
• Available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance

Pay

Compensation range: $165,000 to $175,000 annually. The final rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations.
