Interim Executive Director - Assisted Living
What Does the Interim Executive Director Do?
In this role, you are the temporary CEO of the assisted living/memory care community, driving comprehensive business results forward. This includes:
- Ensuring residents are cared for to the best of their ability
- Training, educating, and staffing appropriately
- Maintaining adherence to the budget
- Maintaining occupancy alignment with company goals

Job Duties
In this role, you will:
- Provide direct and indirect supervision of the community operation
- Train, coach, counsel, and evaluate all staff members
- Ensure nursing services meet residents' needs and comply with state codes and company policies
- Ensure census expectations are met and admission processes are completed in a timely manner
- Recruit and retain qualified staff, ensuring background checks, reference checks, and licenses are cleared
- Motivate employees through appreciation, recognition, and incentive programs
- Promote positive employee relations and address concerns and grievances
- Oversee the community budget, providing guidance and training to department heads
- Monitor operations regularly and prepare quality review audits and variance reports
Education & Experience Needed
To qualify, you will need:
- The appropriate certification or license by state regulations
- An Associates Degree and at least two years of experience in geriatrics or three years in a management position, with experience in budgeting, staff development, training, and scheduling
- Additional coursework in management is an asset
- The ability to solve problems creatively in both resident care and employee management situations
- The ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodations
