Interim Director of Nursing
Job Summary
The Director of Nursing is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and managing all aspects of the medical department for a substance abuse treatment facility. Responsibilities include overseeing medical providers and nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, obtaining and managing medical service contracts, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of facility medical department in coordination with the Medical Director and facility CEO.
- Serve as a supervisor, monitoring and documenting staff delivery of medical services.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements, including detox services and protocols.
- Supervise and manage medical services contracts and vendors.
- Report facility, staff, or client concerns to multi-disciplinary leaders.
- Uphold licensure and credentialing policies and procedures, particularly in the medical aspect of treatment.
- Work with the onsite pharmacist or contract pharmacist for medication oversight and destruction.
- Recommend and manage regulatory staffing patterns and annual budgets.
- Ensure timely coverage of shifts and active involvement in medical treatment processes.
- Maintain and update client medical needs and appointments.
- Implement and monitor medical utilization review functions.
- Prepare and present performance evaluations, provide feedback, and make compensation recommendations.
- Support a positive work environment by complying with company policies and fostering a harassment-free workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- At least 10 years of experience as a registered nurse with 5 years in management, supervisory, or director-level roles in a treatment facility or hospital setting.
- Three to five years of addiction experience preferred.
- RN License in the state of practice.
- Certification in Addiction (optional).
