Interim Controller

About the role

The organization operates across a multi-entity structure and is looking for a seasoned accounting leader to help maintain continuity, strengthen processes, and drive reporting accuracy. You will partner closely with an existing accounting team and provide guidance during a period of change.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of audit-ready, GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and period-end close processes
• Manage and review consolidations across multiple legal entities
• Maintain and strengthen intercompany accounting processes
• Support audit readiness and financial reporting quality
• Provide hands-on leadership to a team of accounting professionals
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a complex environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
• Experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany accounting
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within real estate, REITs, or investment management environments
• Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, Dynamics GP, etc.)
• Experience managing large, multi-entity structures (50+ entities)
• Demonstrated success in stabilizing and optimizing accounting operations
• Strong leadership skills, with a focus on team development and process improvement
