Interim Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to step into a hands-on role and keep day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting running smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can quickly learn an established process, work independently, and partner with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement review
• Prepare and review monthly financial reporting and ensure reports reconcile to the ERP
• Review inventory and cost of goods sold, partnering with Purchasing as needed
• Review and post weekly payroll activity from ADP
• Oversee accounts payable, review invoices and approve items for weekly check runs
• Provide oversight of accounts receivable and collections
• Track fixed assets and capital projects, including assets/projects in progress
• Assist with year-end close and coordinate information and questions with the outside accounting firm
• Complete and finalize the annual budget using an established Excel-based budgeting model
• Prepare financial information and reporting needed for banking and renewal requirements
• Research discrepancies and resolve accounting or reporting issues as they arise

Requirements

• Previous Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior-level accounting experience
• Strong hands-on month-end close and financial reporting experience
• Experience working within an ERP system
• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to step into an existing accounting environment and quickly take ownership of processes
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently research and resolve discrepancies

Preferred Qualifications

• NetSuite experience
• ADP experience
• Experience with inventory and COGS in a product or manufacturing environment
• Experience working with outside auditors/accounting firms and year-end reporting
