Duties And Responsibilities
- Aid in the development, presentation, and implementation of the City’s annual budget.
- Prepare revenue and expenditure forecasts, variance reports, and financial analyses.
- Review fund balances, reserves, expenditures, encumbrances, and departmental budgets.
- Assist with capital planning, financial policies, audit activities, and required financial reporting.
- Provide clear financial guidance and presentations to City management, departments, and elected officials.
- Perform other related financial analyses as assigned.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- Progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, auditing, or public finance.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Municipal government experience and CPA, CGFO, CPFO, or similar professional certification are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of governmental budgeting, accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Knowledge of municipal revenue sources, expenditures, fund accounting, reserves, and capital planning.
- Skill in preparing budgets, financial forecasts, variance analyses, and management reports.
- Skill in using financial management systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Ability to analyze complex financial information and make sound recommendations.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management, departments, elected officials, and the public.
- Ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, auditors, consultants, and other governmental agencies.
