Interim Accounting Consultant

About the Role

Our client base has ongoing, immediate needs for a Strategic Accounting Consultant to support project-based initiatives and interim coverages during peak times, at a Controller-level skill set, performing hands-on work. This role ensures adherence to accounting principles, practices, and procedures to deliver accurate and timely financial statements while managing tight deadlines and a variety of accounting activities.

Responsibilities

• Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy and processing of client information
• Balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, payroll, and other accruals
• Review and approval of account classifications
• Review of the general ledger for missing transactions and overall accuracy
• Oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cost accounting (if applicable)
• Assist in the formulation of the budget and prepare monthly budget variance analyses
• Conduct technical accounting research, including revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, and business combinations

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally with month-end close and financial reporting expertise
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
• Experience in a public accounting firm or consulting services environment preferred
• Strong technical financial accounting (GAAP) knowledge
• Knowledge of accounting/ERP software, including NetSuite, Intacct, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics Suite, and QuickBooks
• Knowledge of reporting systems such as OneStream, Hyperion, or Adaptive Planning preferred
• Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
