INTERDISCIPLINARY ENGINEER / ARCHITECT

About the role

You will serve as a ENGINEER/ARCHITECT in the Design and Construction Business Line (DCBL) Core, Construction Division (DC5), NAVFAC Pacific level of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex engineering issues during construction or repair to ensure projects are in accordance with quality standards.
• Provide status report updates regarding changes, issues, and potential risk to leadership.
• Review construction documents prior to contract award for engineering soundness.
• Recommend appropriate work methods, practices, procedures and assist in identifying viable solutions.
• Provides construction support and coordination for projects, develops community management policies, and offers related technical support to ensure adherence to policies and processes.
• Led efforts to improve processes by mentoring team members, training staff in construction issue resolution, and recommending efficient work methods and procedures.

Qualifications

• This position has an SPF which is current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico.
• A copy of a wall certificate that does not show current registration status will not serve to verify you meet this requirement.
• Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
• Coordinating complex construction facilities designs and construction such as housing, complex weapons and industrial facilities, airfields, etc. maintaining critical operating deadlines, while ensuring policies and processes are followed.
• Developing community management policies, providing professional construction and engineering and related technical support.
• Preparing and presenting status briefs related to scope of work, issues, potential risks, advises on potential impacts and provides recommendations.
• Reviewing, approving contractor's quality, safety programs and environment protection plans to ensure best management practices are followed.

Additional Qualifications

• Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
• Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
• Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
• Have a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture.
• Have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings.
