Intensive Kaiārahi - Navigator [Fixed Term]
About the role
The Service – Hutia Te Rito is a new service focused on hapū mama and pēpi aged 0–4 years or tamariki in the care of their grandparents or extended whānau living in Heretaunga, Hawkes Bay - Hastings. The role is to provide support to whānau where there is an emerging or undiagnosed disability or developmental need or whānau experiencing distress due to social issues like addiction, lack of housing or family harm that is impacting on whānau wellbeing.
Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. We have been supporting our whānau me hapori to achieve their aspirations and general wellbeing for more than 40 years. Underpinning our success as an organisation are our values: Kotahitanga, Whakamana, Kaitiakitanga and Whanaungataunga, which are woven through everything we do.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to whānau with emerging or undiagnosed disability or developmental needs.
- Support whānau experiencing distress due to addiction, housing insecurity, or family harm impacting wellbeing.
Requirements
- Ideally a Level 4 Qualification in Health and Social Services or similar qualification.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Experience in whānau‑centred practice in social services, health, or education.
- Full driver’s licence.
Skills
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and advocacy skills.
- Computer literate and familiar with client management systems, case notes, and reporting.
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori me ona Tikanga Māori.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (full time, fixed term). Funding for this service is till 30 June 2027.
