About the role

The Intelligence Analyst II - Strategic Threat Assessment and Risk conducts all-source intelligence analysis of the threat environment, using both classified and open-source reporting streams and pertaining to geographic region(s) of coverage, with a focus on technical espionage threats and vulnerabilities. They use qualitative and quantitative analytical risk management methodologies, conduct risk analysis for overseas diplomatic facilities, and work with subject matter experts to develop risk mitigation strategies. The analyst coordinates information collection efforts with overseas security personnel, compiles threat information into periodic reports for overseas missions and domestic planning, and provides both written and verbal briefings for executive-level and other State Department personnel. They participate in Department and interagency committees, conferences, and working groups, and collaborate with analysts across the intelligence, law enforcement, and international communities.

Responsibilities

• Conducts all-source intelligence analysis of the threat environment, using both classified and open-source reporting streams and pertaining to geographic region(s) of coverage, with a focus on technical espionage threats and vulnerabilities.
• Uses qualitative and quantitative analytical risk management methodologies, conducts risk analysis for overseas diplomatic facilities, and works with subject matter experts to help develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborates with overseas security personnel to enhance the quality of threat reporting, compiles threat information into periodic reports for overseas missions and domestic planning, and provides both written and verbal briefings for executive-level and other State Department personnel.
• Participates in Department and interagency committees, conferences, and working groups, and collaborates with analysts across the intelligence, law enforcement, and international communities.

Requirements

• Current U.S. Government final Top Secret security clearance and qualified for SCI access.
• Eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required security clearance/access approvals.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Current or previous experience as an all-source intelligence analyst in the intelligence or law enforcement communities for a minimum of one (1) year; or
• Three (3) years' experience as a Security Engineering Officer or Regional Security Officer in the Diplomatic Security Service;
• Three (3) years' experience as a credentialed or certified technical security expert, counterintelligence agent, or technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) practitioner;
• Four (4) years' service in the U.S. Armed Services in one or more of the following: US Army: 35x series, US Air Force: 14Nx, 1Nxxx series, US Navy: 181x, 183x, 681x, 683x, 781x, 783x, CTx, ISUS Marine Corps: 02xx, 26xx series.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of Intelligence Community standards and directives, including ICD 203, 702 and 705.
• Knowledge of intelligence reporting streams and systems.
• Substantive knowledge and understanding of regulations governing the use of classified materials.
• Ability to effectively and professionally interact and collaborate with groups or individuals outside their own organization.
• Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition.

Skills

• Working knowledge of technical security countermeasures and regulations.
