About the role
A top-tier national law firm is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate for its Tampa office. This role offers a unique blend of prosecution, advisory, and transactional work for clients ranging from emerging tech companies to established brands. The position offers hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to work across a wide range of intellectual property matters.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute trademark and patent filings with the USPTO
- Conduct clearance, risk analysis, and IP strategy development
- Draft and negotiate IP license agreements and technology contracts
- Support due diligence and IP elements of M&A and other transactions
- Communicate directly with clients and collaborate across legal teams
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in patent and trademark prosecution and IP transactional work
- Ability to manage day-to-day prosecution dockets and file with the USPTO
- Skilled in trademark clearance searches and IP opinion drafting
- Experience with drafting and negotiating software and IP-related agreements is a plus
- Exposure to IP due diligence in corporate transactions is beneficial
- USPTO registration or eligibility for the patent bar strongly preferred
- Excellent academic credentials, practical judgment, and communication skills required
- Must be admitted to practice in Florida
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who are admitted to practice in Florida.

Strong research and writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.
Benefits
The firm offers a competitive salary range of $150,000 – $170,000 DOE, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.
